Gardens Of Rajasthan

After all the impression of the barrenness of a desert region, it is almost surprising to see the blossoming flowers in the vast landscaped gardens full of divine fragrance and cool breeze that looks like a mirage for an instance. Ram Niwas Garden, Jaipur

The last Maharaja Ram Singh II, as a famine relief project, laid out the popular Ram Niwas Garden located in Jaipur in 1868. It houses a zoo, an aviary, a greenhouse, a herbarium, a museum and several sports grounds. The Albert Hall museum is especially noted for its Indo-Saracenic structure. Recently there have been some additions such as Rabindra Manch with an auditorium, a modern art gallery and an open-air theatre.

Bada Bagh, Jaisalmer

3 km from Jaisalmer, Bada Bagh is a fruitful oasis in the charming backdrop of a pretty rain fed lake and a dam in the middle of the plateau. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh II, much of the city's fruit and vegetables are grown here and above it are royal cenotaphs with elegantly carved ceiling and equestrian statues of former rulers.

Gulab Bagh, Udaipur

Translated as 'The Garden Of Roses', it is located in the Sajjan Niwas Park, Udaipur. Laid out by Sajjan Singh in the late 19th Century, it boasts of all types of roses available all over the world. It houses Saraswati Bhawan Library (originally called the Victoria Hall) was built to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee and the Aravalli Express, a toy train, shows off the garden in a most pleasurable way.

Vidyadhar Gardens, Jaipur

Vidyadhar Garden, situated near the Sisodia Gardens of Jaipur, it is a beautiful vineyard dedicated to Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya, the architect of the city of Jaipur who planned the town using the principles laid down in the Shilpa Shastra (an ancient Hindu treatise on architecture). These tiered gardens house several galleries, pavilions and lovely murals depicting scenes from the life of Lord Krishna.

Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh, Jaipur

The garden was made, by Sawai Jai Singh, for his queen from Sisodia (one of India's oldest kingdoms). The palace is painted with scenes from the life of Lord Krishna, many showing outdoor scenes. The garden is terraced.

Zoological Garden, Jaipur

Bus Stations In Rajasthan

Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation runs buses within the state of Rajasthan and to the neighboring states of Gujarat, Punjab, Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharastra. It has a total of 5000 buses in its fleet.

Ajmer Central Bus Station

Ajmer Central Bus Station is one of the busiest bus terminals in Rajasthan. It is situated 2 km south of Ajmer town, about 135 km south-west of Jaipur. Rajasthan State Transport Corporation operates inter-district and inter-state services to all major cities in the country. Regular buses are available to Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Mount Abu, Jaisalmer, Mumbai and Delhi.

Bharatpur Bus Station

Bharatpur Bus Station is a few minutes walk from the Bharatpur Junction Railway Station, 32 km from Deeg. Buses ply from Bharatpur to Jaipur, Alwar, New Delhi and Mathura. Deluxe and ordinary buses are in service.

Bhilwara Bus Station

Bhilwara Bus Station is about 5 km from the Manikya Lal Verma Textile Institute, on National Highway 4. The station operates numerous services to all major towns and cities in Rajasthan. Inter-state services are operated to Delhi and Ahmedabad. Regular buses are available to Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Jodhpur and Kota.

Bikaner Bus Station

Bikaner Bus Station is a short walk from the Bikaner Junction Railway Station. The station operates local and inter-state bus services. Rajasthan Roadways runs deluxe and air conditioned buses to Jaipur, Jodhpur and Delhi. Dausa Bus Station
